We've been building websites from our studio in Frome for over a decade. In that time, one thing has always struck us about working in this part of the world. While there’s no shortage of talented individuals doing brilliant digital and creative work here, there’s almost nothing in the way of events for them to come together at.

If you want a good talk on design, marketing or technology, you usually end up on the train to Bristol or London. So, we’ve decided to do something about it.

Introducing FDX

Frome Digital Exchange (FDX) is a new series of talks and networking events for business owners, marketers, designers, developers and creative people across Somerset, Wiltshire and Bath.

The idea is simple. It’s a morning out of the office – we’re aiming for every couple of months – where you hear from people doing interesting work locally, pick up a few ideas you can use, and meet people you’d otherwise never cross paths with.

The first one is on Thursday 8 October at Little Walcot, Frome, from 9:15 to 11:00.

What’s on the agenda?

Agentic commerce.
Iestyn Keyes of blubolt is looking at what happens when AI agents start shopping on your customers’ behalf. This is one of the biggest questions facing any business with a website. Iestyn is coming at it from ecommerce, but the lessons about being recommended by AI apply to everyone.

Narrative and design.
Jay Bigford of Yoke will talk about how storytelling and design change what people do. Jay’s work with environmental and social organisations is a great reminder of what good design is for.

The future of digital advertising.
Sally Hunt and Harriet Barter of Floresco Media will look ahead to advertising in 2027 and beyond. If you’ve ever wondered how much control you still have over your ads now that the platforms automate so much of the process, this one’s for you.

Making an impact locally.
Lenka Grimes of
Fair Frome will close with what businesses like ours can do for the town we work in.

Why Fair Frome?

At the end of the day, FDX is all about supporting the wider Frome community. For that reason, we didn’t want it to just be about business.
Every penny of profit from tickets goes to Fair Frome. They help people facing poverty and hardship across the town with food, furniture, fuel and practical support. Your £10 ticket gets you a morning of talks and a pastry, and it helps people locally.

Who should come?

Come along if you run a business, work in marketing, design or development, or are just curious about where digital is heading. You don’t need to know anyone. Most people won’t, and that’s why there’s time for networking at the end.
